Welcome to the NTN Apprenticeship Page

Apprenticeships are an ideal opportunity for young people, aged 16 to 24, who are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

What is an Apprenticeship?

  • A work-based training programme
  • For new and existing staff
  • A pathway to progression and promotion
  • Achieve nationally recognised qualifications through real and relevant experience
  • Gain new skills, confidently and competently to a high standard
  • Your training can be funded (subject to eligibility)

Is an Apprenticeship right for me?

We want you to have the best possible experience when taking on an apprenticeship with NTN. So it is important that you know before you make a long term commitment, whether the programme is right for you.

  • Your apprenticeship will last a minimum of 12 months
  • You must be working a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Apprenticeships are a commitment and will take time and dedication (in and out of work)
  • Your employer will support your apprenticeship by:
  • Giving you time to complete your work
  • Provide access to IT and study space on site
  • You will be observed whilst ‘on the job’ to evidence your skills and build your portfolio
  • Your tutor will meet with you every month to support your learning and every 8 weeks to review your progress

Will it cost me?

Your training will be funded if you:

  • Do not have higher level qualifications (i.e. a Degree)
  • Want to complete the next level of your apprenticeship

Proof of eligibility and previous qualifications will be required at the start of the programme.

Learning loans are available for those who wish to study but are ineligible for funding

English & Maths

As part of your apprenticeship you will need to complete your Functional skills (English & Maths)

  • At Level 2 you will need to complete your level 1 functional skills

If you have achieved this already you will be exempt – this will be discussed at the induction meeting.

  • If you wish to stretch yourself you can apply to do your Level 2 functional skills alongside your apprenticeship.

Levels of Apprenticeship

  • Depending on your current skills and qualifications, there are three levels of apprenticeship you can apply for:

Intermediate Apprenticeship: Equivalent to 5 GCSEs, grades A* – C
Advanced Apprenticeship: Equivalent to 2 A Levels
Higher Apprenticeship: Equivalent to a Higher National Diploma or Foundation Degree

  • The programme works alongside your employment to build your knowledge, skills and confidence.
  • Your employer will also provide you with the time and support during your working hours to undertake qualifications and will be regularly involved in reviewing your progress throughout the course.
