Job Description

In this role you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and development of our Vocational short courses which consist of Hospitality L1/L2, Retail L1, Customer Service L2 and Employability L1 (PDE) for 16+ learners, as part of a growing curriculum.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Classroom based delivery of Vocational courses at L1 and L2 as well as Employability Skills, assessing learner portfolios.
  • Effective interpretation of a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools.
  • Devising Learner Journeys/Action Plans taking into consideration various learning styles and individual learner needs.
  • Developing schemes of work and lesson plans as well as contributing to the on-going creation and development of new and innovative training materials/resources.
  • Embedding Functional Skills throughout the delivery and documenting it in lessons plans/SOWs.
  • Liaising with colleagues to offer learners the best possible progression route for further education, apprenticeships and employment.
  • Achieving a minimum of Grade 2 in all internal and external inspections, monitoring visits and observations.
  • Achieving minimum retention rate of 95% and success rate of 95% for accredited qualifications.
  • Contributing to the sourcing and enrolment of new learners if required.
  • Attending standardisation meetings when necessary
  • Administrating and completing paperwork associated with programme within required timescales.

Background and experience:

  • Achieved a fully endorsed teaching qualification, PTTLS as a minimum, with relevant vocational qualification and/or experience.
  • IT qualification desirable.
  • Assessor qualification desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of how to effectively interpret a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability and experience of working with challenging learners with a wide variety of barriers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in delivering vocational qualifications
  • Robust classroom management skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of Ofsted inspections desirable
  • Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • High standard of customer care
  • Good organisational and administration skills

  • Evidence own progress and achievement using CPD.

Job Description:

In this role you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and development of Functional Skills English and Maths up to Level 2.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Delivery of Functional Skills English and Maths up to Level 2, classroom based as well as 1-1 tuition to 16 – 24 year olds.
  • Effective interpretation of a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools.
  • Devising Learner Journeys/Action Plans taking into consideration various learning styles and individual learner needs.
  • Working towards targeted delivery outcomes.
  • Achieving minimum retention rate of 90% and achievement rate of 80% for accredited qualifications.
  • Support the administration of each appropriate learning aim.
  • Contribute to the enrolment of new learners if required.
  • Developing schemes of work, lesson plans and timetable management according to learners’ levels and abilities.
  • Liaising with colleagues to offer learners the best possible progression route for further education, apprenticeships and employment.
  • Contributing to the on-going creation and development of new and innovative training materials/resources.
  • Ensuring all delivery meets quality and performance standards set by NTN.
  • Achieving a minimum of Grade 2 in all internal and external inspections, monitoring visits and observations.
  • Offer advice, information and guidance to learners on the best possible progression routes.
  • Attend curriculum working groups where necessary and contribute to the development of company training programmes as required.
  • Administrating and completing paperwork associated with programme within required timescales.
  • Keep up to date with any awarding organisation changes and requirements
  • Completing any other duties as reasonably requested by Line Manager.

Background and experience:

  • Achieved a fully endorsed teaching qualification such as a Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
  • Subject specialist qualification and ability to deliver English and Maths up to Level 2.
  • IT qualification desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of how to effectively interpret a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability and experience of working with 16 to 24 year olds.
  • Experience of dealing with challenging learners with a wide variety of barriers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of Functional Skills curriculum and experience in a similar post.
  • Robust classroom management skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of Ofsted inspections desirable
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work towards and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate and motivate self and learners in challenging surroundings.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
